Question
24: What is the tri-unity (trinity) nature of God?
Answer: The Bible teaches that God is one God revealed in three distinct persons the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. The term trinity is not in the Bible but the concept is communicated throughout Gods Word (Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:, 2 Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen., Romans 8:9-11 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you., 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.). There are many other passages in the Bible that help to explain the triune nature of God. In Genesis 1:1, the Bible begins with in the beginning God The Hebrew word for God here is Elohim. This is a plural noun, but the verb is singular. This teaches that there is one God in a plurality. I could spend a lot of time trying to explain the Trinity in detail but I believe that it would be time not well spent. To be honest, I dont fully understand the concept of the Trinity myself but I believe it! As I have communicated throughout this document, the Christian life is one of faith. As believers, we believe the Word of God by faith and then step-out on that faith trusting the Lord to guide us in our understanding and in our trusting of Him.
