Question 27: What does your religion teach about homosexuality?

Answer: The ultimate source of truth, the King James Bible, has much to say about the sin of homosexuality.  While much of the modern world has embraced homosexuality as simply an alternative lifestyle, God’s opinion is entirely opposite.  What does God think of homosexuality (or sodomy)?

  1. It is an abomination – Leviticus 18:22 “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.”  Abomination – An abhorrence for someone or something; disgust; something that elicits great dislike or abhorrence. [The American Heritage Dictionary]
  2. It bore the death penalty in the Old Testament – Leviticus 20:13 “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”
  3. It defiles the land – Leviticus 18:25 “And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.”
  4. It is a product of a morally reprobate mind – Romans 1:26-28 “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. 28And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;”
  5. It is worthy of the judgment of eternal fire – Jude 7 “Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.”
  6. It can be forgiven and cleansed in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of God – 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

Finally, although the world’s stance today is that homosexuals are born (meaning they don’t choose to be a homosexual), the Bible again disputes this.  The truth is that “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:27-28).  God created man in His image – not as a homosexual!  God continued to reveal his perfect plan for mankind in Genesis 2:24 when He said “4Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”    God does not make mistakes.  His plan is clear.  One man – one woman – mutually completing each other – becoming one flesh – to replenish the earth and have dominion over it – and to bring glory and honor to His Holy name.
