Question
29: Do you believe that a homosexual can be saved, and yet continue to live the
same lifestyle?
Answer:
NO! The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold, all
things are become new.” With the power of the indwelling Holy Ghost, the old
sinner is turned into a new creature. He
is no longer controlled by his sinful lusts but by the power of God. When he is walking in the Spirit, having
crucified his flesh, fully clothed in God’s armour, he will be able to overcome
the sin of homosexuality. Now, with that
said, I do believe it is possible for a believer who is truly saved to possibly
have a “lapse” back into this terrible sin.
The person who is delivered by Christ from any terrible, habitual sin
will undoubtedly be attacked by Satan in that area. Our enemy knows our individual weaknesses and
wants nothing more to destroy the believer, leaving their testimony of no
effect. The person who was delivered
from this sin needs to take GREAT care to make sure the power of God rests on
their life at all times to overcome the temptations of the enemy. If they fail, even for a moment, they could
potentially fall back into sin. This in
no way should be misconstrued as an excuse to sin. The believer that does sin will come under
immediate and severe conviction and will be drawn to once again confess and
repent of that sin to receive God’s forgiveness.
