What is a COG, you ask? “COG” is an acrostic for “Child Of God”, which describes anyone who has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. If you have never done this, then please read on. You will find that accepting Christ is as easy as A-B-C:
A: Admit that you are a sinner.
Romans 3:23- For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
B:
Believe that, because of your sin, you deserve to spend eternity in Hell. However, Jesus
shed His blood and died on the cross of Calvary to pay the debt for our sin. He then
rose from the dead three days later, proving His victory over death,
Hell, and the grave. He
offers this as a free gift to anyone who will accept
it in faith.
Romans 5:8- But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we
were yet sinners,
Christ died for us.
Romans 6:23- For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus
Christ our Lord.
C: Call upon Jesus and ask
Him to come into your heart, forgive your sins, and make you one of
His
children.
Romans 10:9- That
if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe
in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be
saved.
Romans 10:13- For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
If you would like to accept God’s free gift of salvation, then all you have to do is pray and ask Him. Your prayer might sound something like this:
Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I know that I deserve Hell because of it. However, I believe that you died on the cross and rose again in three days to pay for my sin. I ask you to come into my heart, cleanse my sin, and make me one of your children. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.
Please remember that simply saying a prayer doesn’t save you. You must believe this in your heart as well.
