Events In And
Relating To The Book Of Revelation: Lesson 6
Various Scriptures
The final two events that we need to
look at are the Millennial Kingdom and the Great White Throne Judgment.
I. Millennial Kingdom
a. The geography of Israel will change when Jesus sets foot on the Mount Of Olives. (The 2nd Coming) (Zechariah 14:4- And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.)
i. The Mount Of Olives will split in two, creating a plain.
ii. The wilderness will blossom. The earth will be beautiful and fruitful as it was before the sin of Adam and Eve. (Isaiah 35:1-2 1The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. 2It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God.)
b. Israel will see the fulfillment of Gods promises to them. (Jeremiah 12:15- And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.) (Ezekiel 28:25- Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob.)
c. Jerusalem will play an important part in the kingdom, and Israel will have a prominent place in Christs government. (Isaiah 62:1-4 1For Zion' sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem' sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. 2And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name. 3Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God. 4Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.)
i. Jerusalem will finally live up to the meaning of its name, The City Of Peace. (Isaiah 2:4- And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.)
d. Gentiles will be prominent in the Millennial Kingdom as well. (Isaiah 11:10- And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.)
e. Long life will be the norm. (Isaiah 65:20- There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.)
f. Jesus Christ will be the central figure of the Millennial Kingdom.
i. We can tell a lot about it by how He is referred to. He is referred to as:
1. Lord Of Hosts (Isaiah 24:23- Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.)
2. Thy God (Isaiah 52:7- How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!)
3. The Most High (Daniel 7:22- Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.)
4. Son Of Man (Daniel 7:13- I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.)
5. My Servant (Isaiah 42:1- Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.)
6. Good Shepherd (Isaiah 40:10-11 10Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand , and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. 11He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.)
7. Redeemer (Isaiah 59:20- And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.)
ii. He will reign in absolute authority as:
1. King (Isaiah 33:17- Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far of.)
2. Judge (Isaiah 33:22- For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.)
3. Lawgiver (also Isaiah 33:22)
g. People of the Millennial Kingdom
i. Who will be there?
1. saved Gentile and Jewish survivors of the Tribulation (Revelation 7:14-17 14And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. 16They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. 17For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.)
2. resurrected martyrs of the Tribulation (Revelation 6:9-11 9And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? 11And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled. 12And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;)
3. resurrected Old Testament saints (Daniel 12:2-3 2And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.)
4. raptured Christians who returned with Christ (Colossians 3:4- When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.)
ii. The Tribulation survivors:
1. will enter the Millennial Kingdom in their mortal bodies
2. will marry and have families
3. will have children with sin natures that will need to be saved just as their parents were
h. The end of the Millennial Kingdom
i. Satan will be released to work on Earth again for a little while, and some people will follow him.
ii. God will crush their rebellion, and Satan will be cast into the Lake Of Fire. (Revelation 20:7-10 7And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 10And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.)
iii. After the Great White Throne Judgment, the old Earth and heavens will be destroyed and God will create new ones. The Millennial Kingdom will then merge into the Eternal Kingdom. (II Peter 3:10-13 10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.) (I Corinthians 15:24-28 24Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 27For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith, all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 28And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.)
II. The Great White Throne Judgment (Revelation 20:11-15 11And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.)
a. This is the final judgment.
b. Only the unsaved will be judged at this judgment.
i. Many have the idea that there will be a general judgment in which everyone stands before God. This is not so.
ii. The bodies of the unsaved will be reunited here with their souls. This way, a person can be judged in the body in which they sinned. (Revelation 20:12-13)
c. The basis of this judgment will be several books.
i. The only one we know for sure is the Book of Life, which contains only the names of those who accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. (Revelation 20:12)
ii. The other books could be records of every thought, word, or deed of the unsaved. These could be used to show them the awfulness of their sin.
Conclusion
And that, folks, is the conclusion
of the events in the book of Revelation.
I hope that you have learned a lot!
